How to pass a Groovy variable to the Goals and Options in Jenkins?

I am trying to get the last successful job number from another job in Jenkins and pass it to pom.xml. I am not able to do it. The value I get in Selenium that comes from pom.xml is "$buildNumber" (variable name, not the value). This is how I am doing:

I don't know how to pass a variable from groovy to Goals in Jenkins. If someone can please advise what I am doing wrong I would appreciate. Thanks.
